Nazim Hussain Siddiqui

Justice (R) (Late) Nazim Hussain Siddiqui

  

Nazim Hussain Siddiqui was born on 30 June 1940. His father was Late Mukarram Hussain Siddiqui. He did his BA, LLB from the University of Hyderabad and LLM from the University of Karachi.


He practised at Hyderabad from 1961 to 1967. During his career, Justice Siddiqui served as civil judge, senior civil judge, additional district and sessions judge, district and sessions judge at Sukkur and Dadu, registrar of the SHC twice, customs judge thrice, special judge anti-corruption, special judge Banking Court, chairman Commercial Court and Drug Court, member Appellate Insurance Tribunal, presiding officer Labour Court, member Supreme Appellate Court/Tribunal, chairman Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, and member Board of Governors of Indus Valley School of Karachi.


He was also serving as chairman Central Zakat Council of Pakistan, Member, Board of Governors of the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi; Member, Selection Board of the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.


Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui took oath as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan soon after President Pervez Musharraf's Constitutional Amendment which came to be known as the Seventeenth Amendment.


The president named Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui as the Chief Justice of Pakistan for being the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and administered oath to him at the presidential camp office in Rawalpindi. The oath-taking ceremony was also attended by the then Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali besides federal ministers, services chiefs, members of Parliament, judges of the Supreme Court and senior lawyers.


Justice Siddiqui, who belonged to Sindh, was appointed judge of the Sindh High Court (SHC) in March 1992 and became chief justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC) in 1999. He was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 4 February 2000.


He died in Karachi on 15 January 2022, at the age of 81. The firm Nazim H. Siddiqui is named in his memory and is headed by his son Barrister Muhammad Saad Siddiqui Advocate Supreme Court.

Barrister Siddiqui completed his LLB from the University of London (International Programmes) in 2007 and subsequently did MA in International Relations on 2008 and later went on to do the Bar at Law from University of the West of England Bristol in 2010 and is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincolns Inn since then. After completing his LLB Barrister Siddiqui joined Abid S. Zuberi & Associates in 2007 as an associate right after his graduation while continuing his studies as well. In 2022 Barrister Siddiqui parted ways with Abid S. Zuberi and co. as a Partner in order to pursue his career as the Head of Chambers. In April 2022 Barrister Siddiqui set up a firm by the name and style of Nazim H. Siddiqui & Co. as a tribute to his late Father Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui (Former Chief Justice of Pakistan). He regularly appears before different legal forums. Barrister Siddiqui specializes in Criminal and Civil Litigation, Family Law, Constitutional Petitions, Service Laws, Labor laws, Clinical negligence, Banking Laws, Media laws, Construction laws, Dispute Resolution, Employment laws, Property laws etc. Barrister Siddiqui has a number of reported judgments under his name in numerous law reports.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of London and In addition to his legal credentials, Sahibzada earned a dual-major bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from the Institute of Business Management, Karachi, which gives him a deep understanding of the financial and economic intricacies of commercial law.


His professional experience is further bolstered by his tenure at renowned organisations, including Engro Corp and PwC. Sahibzada’s passion for continuous learning and growth drives his ambition to become a leading litigation lawyer in the country.

Ibraheem Ullah Khan, Associate

Mr. Khan is a graduate of the University of London and has quickly developed a strong grasp of the key legal aspects of our practice. In a short time, he has gained valuable experience in litigation support, legal drafting, and research, particularly in civil procedure, constitutional law, contract law, and commercial law. He actively assists senior counsel in court proceedings and procedural tasks, continuously refining his advocacy skills.
